Repeat Prescriptions

Order repeat prescriptions

Patients on regular medication will require prescriptions and, for a safer and speedier service, repeat prescriptions are computerised. Your doctor will have entered onto the computer what medication you are taking, and each time a new prescription is written by the computer a new Prescription Request Form is generated for you to make your next request. Please ensure that you keep this form.

Ordering a repeat prescription from the surgery

Please deliver or post your Repeat Prescription Request Form to the surgery. The prescription will generally be ready after two working days.

You may collect this from the surgery yourself, or, if you wish have it sent to you or to another person or to a pharmacy, please indicate where you would like the prescription sent. Please send a stamped, addressed envelope if appropriate.

Note:

  1. If you have more than one repeat prescription please try to order all your items together.
  2. If you are receiving any medication which is not on your request form, please add this clearly on the request slip and it will be added to your prescription if your doctor agrees.
  3. All patients on repeat medication should see their doctor at least once a year for a medication review – please make an appointment before the review date shown on your prescription. If you request a prescription after your review date has passed, you will be asked to make an appointment with the doctor.

Ordering a repeat prescription through a pharmacy

If a pharmacy offers a prescription collection and delivery service you may take the Repeat Prescription Request Form to them. The pharmacy will obtain the prescription from the surgery and have the items ready for you to collect.

Ordering a repeat prescription online

Repeat prescriptions can also be ordered online using Patient Access. For full details of this, see the Patient Access section of this website. You need to be registered for Patient Access to be able to request repeat prescriptions online.

Please ask the surgery for an ID code and use it to log in to our online services. The simple prompts will show you how to make your request.
